Happy New Moon Chinese New Year. 2012

Since the begining of 2012 new year I have been recieving Dragons! I woke up and my daughter had placed her 2 stuffed dragon on my bedside table and when I woke up the shadow of the dragon was on the wall...a rather large shadow I must say! I got a very pretty red dragon from my son on my desk. I also have a really cool dragon charm to wear as a necklace....I did not know this was the year of the dragon so I was so excited to learn more about it.

Here is something fun to do on every new moon!

A New Moon is the time to ask for what we want by setting our intentions powerfully. It is

the time we practice the time honored tradition of writing an Abundance check. So lets

bring on the Abundance, the Innovation and the Good Fortune!

How to write your Abundance Check:

1.) Within 24-36 hours of the New Moon, take a check from your check book. Where it says Pay to," write your name. (Within 48 hours still works too)

2.) In the little box on the same line where you would fill in a dollar amount write "Paid in full."

3.) On the line underneath your name, where you would write out a dollar amount, write "Paid in full."

4.) Sign the check: "The Law of Abundance"

► Do not put a date on the check.

► Do not write a specific dollar amount in the check.

► It's perfectly ok to draw a check on a piece of paper if you don't have one.

-- It works the same!

5.) Put it in a safe place and forget about it. Just hide it away and let it be.

New Year's Ritual

Dear Friends,
This is a tremendously powerful time of year - a time when the universe is moving all of us in an exciting and positive direction, a time when everyone, whether they know it or not, is looking to complete the past and move into a new future. 2012 offers all of us a new beginning!

I'm excited to share with you this New Year's Ritual and two special community calls to support you in clearing out the past and opening up to a new future. When you presence your gratitude, acknowledge yourself and nourish yourself from the inside out, you will be able to let go of the past and open up to a new pure state of consciousness, one that you have never experienced before, one that will support you in growing and allowing new experiences into your life.

My intention is to support you in letting go of whatever it is that keeps you holding on to the person that you've been, no matter how great or un-great you think that person is. Why would I want you to let go of who you've been? Because there is a you that already exists inside of you, one that is just waiting to be discovered, that can deliver you an unpredictable, unimaginable, extraordinary life in 2012.

And here's a quick tip for you. Since the process I've designed is one of the heart and not the head, I encourage you to write out the answers to the questions I ask you as quickly as you can so that you're not thinking. If you find yourself trying to come up with answers from your head, just use your breath to reconnect with your heart where all the answers reside.

The Ritual

Begin by taking some slow deep breaths. As you breathe out, use your exhales to breathe out who you have been in the past, all that you know yourself to be, all the decisions you've made in the last few years that are old decisions by now, anything that stands between you and the you you don't know yet. As you breathe in, allow yourself to breathe in new energy, inviting a state of consciousness you've never known.

Now allow yourself to see all that you've done in 2011 that you're proud of.
Make a list of the courageous acts, the changes, the breakthroughs, the accomplishments and the achievements in 2011.

Read this list out loud to yourself in the form of "Thank you for.". Thank yourself - the you of 2011 - for all that you've done this year. As you thank yourself for every item on your list, allow yourself to feel like you're being tickled in the heart.

Take another few slow deep breaths and let yourself to see what you would need to let go of and leave in 2011 so that you can feel the gratitude and appreciation for being you and for getting to play a role in this universe.

Make a list of the thoughts, beliefs, habits, addictions, grudges, resentments or harsh internal dialogues that are robbing you right now of a new future. What is in the way of you standing in the joy and magnificence of life?

Now imagine that your list represents a weight keeping you stuck in your current reality, a weight that keeps you attached to the you that you are right now. See the items on your list as anchors that are weighing you down and then imagine that by unhooking from these anchors, you will be able to float to a whole new reality that is just waiting for you. Let yourself see what you would need to do -- what actions do you need to take -- in order to unhook from these anchors and move forward in your life. Make a list.

Take another sweet, strong breath and give yourself permission to expand beyond the you that you've been. Put all your energy around your heart and invite an inspired vision to come to you. As you see this new future for yourself, feel the energy and the light around your heart. Notice what makes your heart happy and joyful. See what turns your light on. Make some notes.

Feeling this love in your heart, ask yourself if you are willing and ready to be guided by this love in 2012. Are you willing and ready to be guided by this love in 2012? If you are, affirm that to yourself out loud seven times. "I am willing and ready to be guided by this love in 2012." As you repeat this phrase, let your inner smile emerge on to your face.

Now let yourself see all your friends, all your supporters, all the gods and goddesses, and all the angels cheering you on, telling you it's safe to let go and open up. Spend a few minutes basking in the love of this cheering squad.

Send deep love to all of your selves -- the self you've known and the self that will emerge in this new year. As you're giving yourself this love, allow a short statement -- a love mantra for 2012 -- to come into your awareness. Write it down and then repeat it to yourself seven times.

Pick one dramatic action to take in the first 24 to 48 hours of the new year to demonstrate your seriousness to the universe about allowing a 2012 version of yourself to emerge.

Maybe you will take all the beer out of your fridge if your 2011 self drank too much. Maybe you will remove your television from your bedroom if your 2011 self used it to avoid caring for yourself. Maybe you will write a letter of forgiveness to someone your 2011 self harbored a grudge against. Let yourself see the dramatic action you can take.

Transformational Action Steps

In the first 24 to 48 hours of the new year, take the dramatic action that will demonstrate your seriousness about allowing a 2012 version of yourself to emerge.

Take the other actions you identified that will support you in unhooking from whatever it is that keeps you stuck in 2011 or the you that you've been.

Repeat your love mantra for 2012 to yourself at least three times a day -- when you get up in the morning, in the middle of the day and when you go to bed at night.

Share this New Year's Ritual with your friends and loved ones to support them in having an unimaginable year.

I am wishing you a year filled with the knowing that you are the greatest gift there is. I love and support you in being the greatest expression of yourself in this new year. May your precious soul be watched over and protected each and every day. May you know yourself in a whole new way and may you see, even if just for an instant each day, how holy, divine and magnificent you really are.

I woke up early this morning and took a walk around in the front yard under the stars...it was very dark and I could feel the dew in the air and on my barefeet! What a beautiful time for the New Moon! I was pondering this new moon in Capricorn and thinking of my wishes for this coming New Year. So many ups and downs this year but ending on a very high note! thank you very much!!! So right after sunrise I released 3 Monarch butterflies I found on my Milkweed that hatched this week. I closed my eyes and lifted them out very gently and watch them fly off with my new moon wishes! I never tire of watching them flit from one flower to another...one even came back and landed in my hair, Lucky me!!!

Butterflies represent new life.

I am a very lucky girl.

I am surrounded by people who may not be blood related to me, but are definitely my family.

My "tribe" is what I call them.

You know, the people who have your back no matter what. The people who can walk into your house at anytime of day and walk straight to that cabinet with the cups and grab themselves a glass of water. The people who you instantly think to call as soon as you hear some fabulous or tragic news. The people that you "need" who don't cause drama or unnecessary fluff in your life. I have a group of those people here in my town and those that have moved away that I can pick up the phone and call and get a sympathetic ear.

My people. I don't need a LOT of people in my life, but I need THESE people.

Today, I wanted to thank a few of these people. If you have followed this blog for a while, you are probably familiar with my art and my positive views on things.  I try to keep to the spirit of nature and celebrate the seasons and offer guidence to those in need.

Well this summer, everything kind of came to a halt when my Husband was diaganosed and has been battling stage 4 colen cancer since April and  if you know anything about this kind of cancer, you can probably pretty much guess how this time has been. Rough. Very rough. But we have managed. My friends and family have been my support. My backbone. I don't ask for help very much but these friends seem to know just what to do and support me in the way I need it.

I love them and Thank you for all the support you have given me this year. We are looking forward to a wonderful New Year and filling it with many happy and magical times!!!

My wish for you in the coming year in 2012 is that you can hold your loved ones close and let them know you love them and to go out in nature, look at all the wonder around you and have a blessed day!

Seashell Ornament video

I do believe there is a great supply of art and craft ideas using seashells. I have decorated mirrors, (for the hospital I worked at) decorative pots and many more. Here is a video of one of my seashell ornaments.

I love the beach!
I love the sun on my face, I love the sand between my toes, the waves coming on shore, the sound of the shells singing in the waves...all the animals you can see... I just saw an osprey looking for dinner!
I grew up in Florida and now being back I love my walks on the beach! Expecially during a full moon. Beautiful! Whenever we went on vacation we were off to the beach and bringing back treasures from the sea. You can see me walking along in the waves now that I am back living in Florida with my red bag picking up seashells...and I have buckets...yes buckets, baskets, bowls, pots....ect, ect,ect...of seashells...I go on walks on the beach and I always say to myself "self, no shells today you have plenty at home"...but then I started collecting flat rocks to paint my animal totem rocks and then driftwood...Oh well I don't listen to myself very well..

Fall is a great time to introduce children to different trees in the neighborhood during this cooler and colorful time of year. Kids love a scavenger hunt so you can make a game of it to look for a variety of leaves.Take a walk along a leafy lane with a young one and you simply can’t help having fun and learning something new.
I am recieving beautiful leaves at storytime from the kids as they walk along the path!

There is so much to talk about and a way to nuture their love of nature....

Nature Scavenger Hunt

I have done many scavenger hunt games with my kids in the neighborhood and my girlscout troops. It is a great way to get the kids to look for nature around them. My Junior Naturalist are starting to enjoy getting out and walking around at the sanctuary and with the weather cooling off, I am always looking for ways to get my kids groups at work interested in our pineland trail and found this great idea link here: Scavenger Hunt. I am going to print up some cards for the plants and wildlife on our property and send them in search! I hope you can find this inspirational for you and your kids!

I've been having fun playing with something called Pinterest. It's like a virtual pinboard,or bulletin board, where you can "pin" images that you find online, and organize them on various "boards" of your own choosing. I like it so much better than a "favorites" list since it is all visual, and easier for me to organize. Clicking on a "pin" or image sends you to the original source post. There is a social aspect too, where you can look in on other people's "boards" and "follow" people whose style you like. It's been really fun and so much easier to save ideas for latter click and follow me on pinterest! join the fun!!!

Post-It frame up

I have made a few of these framed post it note holders for the local craft fair and I have given a couple out as gifts already. It's really a very inexpensive and a functional little gift. Super easy, and in my opinion...super cute! I found this while blog hoping around.

What you need:

clear frames (I bought mine at Dollar store for, you guessed it...$1.00)

post-it's (I bought a generic pack at Wal-Mart for $1.74. Had enough in this one pack for 5 presents) scrapbook paper/embellishments (Already had these.)

I think it's pretty easy on how to do this little project, but here ya go...: )
Cut scrapbook paper to fit frame, stick post-its on the front, and attach ribbon or embellishment.

Here are some examples of how you can personalize! so many ways to go with these~!

I made a set! little notebook covered in matching paper! so cute.

great for anyone who loves the beach! a great way to use up the shells from vacations too!

Apple pie in September,...Check and now it will be October this weekend and I love making pumpkin pies! gets me in the mood for Halloween and all the fall holidays. and it just tastes good! Share your toys. Seriously. Nothing is more fulfilling than watching your clutter-levels go down, and helping out your loved ones in the process. While cleaning a room, ask yourself how much you really use each item. If you can’t even remember the last time you used it, it might be time to let it find another owner. Ask relatives and friends if they’d like that cookie press, or espresso machine, or treadmill, and make someone’s day. Better yet, pick one item to give away each week. Wrap it up and send it to someone you love with a little note.

Have Recess Daily   Taking the time to go outside, even if it’s only to sit on your front porch for a few minutes, can do wonders for your stress levels. Allowing yourself “me time” is key to maintaining sanity in the midst of chaos. Taking a step back when you’re feeling frenetic allows you to see the big picture, and unleash creativity instead of giving into stress.

Don’t Pack Your Schedule Too Tightly You can only do so much in one day. If you try to force yourself to handle too much, you’ll lose motivation, and more importantly, time. When kids hit a point at which they have had too much to do in one day, they have a meltdown. When grownups hit that point, the same concept applies. Limit your activities, focus on what is really important to get done, and you’ll find a happy medium between productivity and relaxation.

Don’t Take “No” for an Answer   Children are the best negotiators in the world. Think about it- whether it’s a puppy dog face, promises to clean their room, or running to ask daddy instead, kids have a multitude of ways to get what they want. Follow suit, and don’t take no for an answer- specifically, when it comes to answering to yourself. If you find yourself making excuses (“but I don’t have the time”, “but I’ve already done so much today”), get into the mindset that you’re not going to allow yourself to say “no” to the things that need doing.

Ask for Permission Before You Buy New Things Remember the days when you were in the store and had to ask your parents to buy you that new doll you wanted? Go back to that mentality. Keep your impulse buys in check, and ask the more responsible side of yourself- do I really need this? can I afford this? is this going to be collecting dust?

Appreciate the Small Things It doesn’t necessarily have to be sitting outside blowing bubbles, or watching a fuzzy caterpillar crawl around, but let yourself wonder at the simple things in life. Appreciating what you have in front of you instead of dreaming of the day when you’ll be able to take that trip to the Bahamas is going to make you much happier in the long run. Watch a sunset with your significant other, color with your children, and take pleasure in the simple, free things in life.

Limit Screen Time When you were a kid, your older, wiser parents told you that too much TV rots your brain. So what happened to that mentality now that you’re supposed to be the older, wiser person? It’s alarming if you sit down to think about how much time is spent on the computer and watching TV. Cutting back on those two things will easily save you hours every week, giving you more time to focus on the important things.

Go to Bed Early Whenever you can, skip the late night snack and your prime time show, and get some extra hours of sleep. You can’t function at your best without the extra vital hours of rest. Your body will thank you.

Clean up your Toys when you’re Done Playing With Them After a relaxing night of vegging out on the couch watching movies, it can be hard to get up the motivation to fold the blanket, clean the popcorn, etc. But keeping the clutter under control before it begins is the best way to manage it. Be proactive about chores, and you’ll find that you aren’t overwhelmed later on.

Always Ask Why      Kids ask “why” constantly. They’re curious, and they want to get to the truth of the matter. Never be afraid to question things. If an area in your life seems to need improvement, or if you’re unsatisfied, ask why this is. Never be afraid to question habits or choices. That’s how you change and improve. Don’t get stuck in an unproductive lifestyle just because you’re afraid to question yourself.

Goals/ 4 months until 2012!

This year, one of my biggest goals is to write in a journal every day and be more organized with my thoughts. well........I think I did pretty good this year! lol....I bought this blank book at Staples, decorated it and I haven’t missed a day yet!

In the front of the journal, I listed down some of the goals I have for this upcoming year. that way, every day when I go to journal I will have my resolutions staring me in the face, and I can check to see how I am doing.

Sometimes, our resolutions or goals, I like that better, for the year can be pretty broad. like “be healthy” or “nurture my creativity”. so after I made a pretty nice list of my general goals, I started to break them up into daily, weekly and monthly goals, using my calendar. So when it comes to nurturing creativity, I have a daily goal to blog, a weekly goal to paint, and a monthly goal to complete a craft project and enter a photography contests. This approach might not be for everyone, but it has been working for me. It helps to have it on my list of things to do and I really like checking them off

Rubber Stamping on Tiles...

I saw this diy on http://www.stamptv.com/ and thought it would be fun to start some early Christmas Presents and maybe have some for my craft shows and art classes coming up. I found these tiles and I loved the rough top. (I do have some left over tiles from another project that are smooth) I got my fairy stamps out and made these. I have not added color yet.

To stamp on tiles you need to have the right tools. I used the Stazon ink. It is waterproof, and no other ink, that I know of, will work for this technique. The tiles I used are Travertine tiles, not completely smooth.

It's always a good idea to use a 4x4" square cardstock to map out what you want to stamp first. This will save you the frustration of stamping on a tile and not liking it. Make sure you use a cloth to get your tiles clean and ready to recieve the ink. Be sure your Stazon is fully inked, you always want to start with a nice juicy pad. Once you stamp and color your tiles, then it's time to add the felt feet. (I got some at home depot.) by adding felt or cork to the bottom it will protect your furniture.

All I need to do is tye it up with a bow!

What a great show last evening. The recepiton for the artists was so welcoming and I had a joyful night looking at all the talented artists. Over 200 photographers entered and 37 chosen to display their work. I am so proad and excited to have been one of the chosen!I am so grateful to Barry Seidman for being the judge of the photo contest, and it was a pleasure to meet him and talk photography.

Week of Dollar Store Projects - Mini Album

Today I am starting a week of projects and tutorials on my blog featuring items I found at the local dollar store. They have lots of amazing little things to craft with! and Like I have said before I enjoy finding cheap items and turning them into something crafty. Today I am going to start with something a little familiar - scrapbook paperpack of 8 sheets($.25 really!)
I started this project with an empty cereal box for the pages. Where a normal person might see as gargabe I get excited and see "cheap chipboard"!

1. Take the box apart by cutting carefully with a craft knife.
2. Sand down the rough edge

3. Measure the size of your pages and cut paper to that size - these were 4x4

4. Adhere the paper to the chipboard pages. I am using modge podge to try it out but any adhesive will work. I go over the top of it with a rub on tool (or bone folder) to make sure the paper is stuck on really well.

5. You can then trim off any excess paper and I like to sand down the edges to make them smooth.

6. I used a blending tool and rusty hinge distress ink to ink the edges of all my pages. I like the look and it helps the chipboard edges blend in a bit better.

7. Using a doily (I found this one in my stash) I changed the color by blending the rusty hinge ink over it. I made a couple of these and used them throughout the book.

8. I Punch holes and set eyelets in the holes. then comes the fun part the decorating of the book!!!
and add photos! I added 3.5x3.5 mats throughout the book alternating with doilies. I am going to make this one with my nature photos from the beach.

Jump! Whether you call it skipping rope or jump roping, it's a great activity to improve strength and fitness and can be performed on grass or pavement.

Retreat to the Beach Instead of driving to the beach, recreate a piece of the coast's serene atmosphere with a sandbox in the yard.

Be Farm and Garden Fresh Get to know your local farmer and enlist the kids to join you at the local farmers' markets. Better yet, plant your own garden that everyone can care for and enjoy all season long.

Natural Face Scrub

Working outside everyday I get a lot of sun and my skin suffers I know...so I am always looking for ways to make it feel better. I remember in high school getting ingredieants from the kitchen and making my own scrubs and lotions. I loved making scrubs and masks from all natural ingredients. I had found this one recently and it is so easy to make. I wanted to share.

All you will need is some oats, sour cream and some lemon zest. I had some lemons that I needed to use so this recipe worked out well.

You will need. 1 Tablespoon of ground oats 2 Tablespoons of sour cream and 1 Tablespoon of lemon zest. I encourage you to look at the ingredients on the sour cream that you buy. (Many brands are full of additives and preservatives). I buy sour cream where the ingredients that are listed are just Grade A cultured cream.

Put all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Apply mixture to clean face. Scrub gently using an upward motion.Rinse well and pat dry. Because of the fresh ingredients you will need to use this immediately.

This scrub will make your face feel smooth and soft and the lemon zest makes it wonderful to smell. (I love the smell on lemon) It is so energizing. I think that it is good to pamper your skin with a scrub at least once a week. Do you ever treat skin to a face scrub?

Rule One

You will receive a body. Whether you love it or hate it, it's yours for life, so accept it. What counts is what's inside.

Rule Two

You will be presented with lessons. Life is a constant learning experience, which provides opportunities every day for you to learn more. These lessons are specific to you, and learning them is the key to discovering and fulfilling the meaning and relevance of your own life.

Rule Three

There are no mistakes, only lessons. Your development towards wisdom is a process of experimentation, trial and error, so it is inevitable that things will not always go to plan or turn out how you want. Compassion is the remedy for harsh judgment - of ourselves and others. Forgiveness is not only divine - it's also the act of
erasing an emotional debt. Behaving ethically, with integrity, and with humor - especially the ability to laugh at yourself and your own mishaps - are central to the perspective that 'mistakes' are simply lessons we must learn.

Rule Four

The lesson is repeated until learned. What manifest as problems and challenges, irritations and frustrations are more lessons - they will repeat until you see them as such and learn from them. Your own awareness and your ability to change are requisites of executing this rule. Also fundamental is the acceptance that you are not a victim of fate or circumstance - 'causality' must be acknowledged; that is to say: things happen to you because of how you are and what you do. To blame anyone or anything else for your misfortunes is an escape and a denial; you yourself are responsible for you, and what happens to you. Patience is required - change doesn't happen overnight, so give change time to happen.

Rule Five

Learning does not end. While you are alive there are always lessons to be learned. Surrender to the 'rhythm of life', don't struggle against it. Commit to the process of constant learning and change - be humble enough to always acknowledge your own weaknesses, and be flexible enough to adapt from what you may be accustomed to, because rigidity will deny you the freedom of new possibilities.

Rule Six

"There" is no better than "here". The other side of the hill may be greener than your own, but being there is not the key to endless happiness. Be grateful for and enjoy what you have, and where you are on your journey. Appreciate the abundance of what's good in your life, rather than measure and amass things that do not actually lead to happiness. Living in the present helps you attain peace.

Rule Seven

Others are only mirrors of you. You love or hate something about another person according to what love or hate about yourself. Be tolerant; accept others as they are, and strive for clarity of self-awareness; strive to truly understand and have an objective perception of your own self, your thoughts and feelings. Negative
experiences are opportunities to heal the wounds that you carry. Support others, and by doing so you support yourself. Where you are unable to support others is a sign that you are not adequately attending to your own needs.

Rule Eight

What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. Take responsibility for yourself. Learn to let go when you cannot change things. Don't get angry about things - bitter memories clutter your mind. Courage resides in all of us - use it when you need to do what's right for you. We all possess a strong natural power and adventurous spirit, which you should draw on to embrace what lies ahead.

Rule Nine

Your answers lie inside of you. Trust your instincts and your innermost feelings, whether you hear them as a little voice or a flash of inspiration. Listen to feelings as well as sounds. Look, listen and trust. Draw on your natural inspiration.

Rule Ten

You will forget all this at birth. We are all born with all of these capabilities - our early experiences lead us into a physical world, away from our spiritual selves, so that we become doubtful, cynical and lacking belief and confidence. The ten Rules are not commandments, they are universal truths that apply to us all.
When you lose your way, call upon them. Have faith in the strength of your spirit. Aspire to be wise - wisdom the ultimate path of your life, and it knows no limits other than those you impose on yourself.

March 25th... Have you read this before??? I love this story...

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks right to the top, rocks about 2" in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them in to the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. The students laughed.

He asked his students again if the jar was full? They agreed that yes, it was. The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

"Now," said the professor,

"I want you to recognize that this is your life.

1. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, and your children - anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed.

2. The pebbles are the other things in life that matter, but on a smaller scale. The pebbles represent things like your job, your house, and your car.

3. The sand is everything else. The small stuff." "If you put the sand or the pebbles into the jar first, there is no room for the rocks.

The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, material things, you will never have room for the things that are truly most important.

Pay attention to the things that are critical in your life. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal."

Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just pebbles and sand.

Have a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day everyone.

this is my favorite!
these cuties are in the eagle enclosure at BWS.

Here is the day we wear the green, kiss the blarney stone and look for four leaf clovers. Ahh the early days of spring, I loved laying out on the front lawn looking up at the clouds passing by on the warm spring days and I remember sitting out in our lawn looking for the "illusive 4 leaf clover" I did find a few!!! We will soon turn our attention away from the last Shamrock and turn our attention to bunnies and Easter eggs.

I found this on “domestiquette” blog. Here are the meanings of each leaf on the four Shamrock:

4-Leaf Clover and Luck:

· The four leaf clover is a universally accepted symbol of good luck with its origin ages old. According to legend, Eve carried a four leaf clover from the Garden of Eden.

· Druids held the 4 leaf clover in high esteem and considered them a sign of luck. In 1620, Sir John Melton wrote: “If a man walking in the fields find any four-leaved grass, he shall in a small while after find some good thing.

· According to Irish folklore, finding a stem of clover with 4 leaves will bring you good luck, but finding a clover stem with more than 4 leaves will not bring you even more luck.

· The mystique of the four leaf clover continues today, since finding a real four leaf clover is still a rare occurrence and omen of good luck.

If you know me, you know I love Butterflies. I am always taking photos, painting, stamping, and looking at butterlies. I have a butterfly garden at home, and starting another one at work (Busch Wildlife Sanctuary) with the local garden club and girl scout troop. The Butterfly animal totem symbolizim is change, to remember to enjoy life, and even represent death to one thing and moving on to something else..."Just when the catepillar thoght it's life was over she became a butterfly!" There are so many wonderful saying about the butterfly!What's not to like???? They are dancing flowers, so light and airy fairy! I was told by a palm reader that I was to become the Butterfly in this lifetime (I like or feel more comftorable to stay behind the scenes!lol..I like helping others become their butterfly, ie the coaching I do) for me when I think of butterflies for transformation I think of this saying. We have it hanging over our desk at home with a butterfly emerging from it's cocoon...

Wow, the weather took me by surprise today! I went to work to do a wildlife tour with 75 1st graders, all went well until we went out on the Pine Land Trail to see our 2 Florida Black Bears and out of no where, we heard a crash, felt the rain and the wind picked up everything on the trail and threw it at us!!! The Pine Trees where swaying and then the limbs of trees and the pinecones started coming down, needless to say they were a little, (well allot scarred, kept talking about tornadoes, ---kids...,gotta love em' ) we got them calmed down and then loaded them up safely on the buses. Going back to the office the tempeture even dropped about 15degrees quickly, yes it gets cold here too!lol

Went home to a dark, rainy day here in South Florida...but I can sit and listen to the rain all day! And listening to the wind....it's so cool with the wind whistling in the pines overhead. Today I'm going to relax, have a cup of tea and enjoy the rest of my afternoon safe at home and listen to the peaceful rhythm of the rain. Maybe at some point I'll get the urge to clean off my kitchen table (crafts!)... but then again, maybe not.

I have to use my 'bear cave' time wisely on days such as this. I don't want to waste a minute!

My Cat Jewel

Last week started off strong with great anticipation meeting new friends, new art classes starting and getting ready for a tarot teleclass,....I had my folder and papers ready for the fun times ahead. However I have been hiding under the covers for week, because my cat, friend, companion of 14yrs passed away. Old age I guess…I had noticed the day before she was walking across my lap a thousand times for me to pet her, how bony her back was and I told her she was getting to be a frail old lady, she finally settled down and looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes. I guess I didn't notice she was growing old before. Her mood had been changing allot over the past couple of weeks...(looking back of course you notice more/or try to seek out a reason???) She is an inside cat but would come with me and sit on the front porch when I drank my coffee in the morning, but she wanted out allot this week and that morning she scooted out the front screen door before it closed, I went to get her and she scratched the fire out of both my arms and , and she peed on me!!! so weird of her to do that. When I was getting ready to have lunch with a friend I went to pet her on the head, she was in "her" chair and she , she was dead.

My husband was in a meeting, my kids where at school….I was so shocked that my knees buckled and hit the floor. I was so shocked... she could go that quickly. I really didn't know what to do. I couldn't believe it for one. I didn't want to believe it.
Everyone was able to say good-bye and we buried her in the bushes where she would go hide and pretend to be my little panther. Wild cat that she was....not! As I was cleaning up around my art supplies I "found" a picture of a cat memory statue and I ordered it to paint and place their too. This was the first pet for my kids to loose, that they really remember. Travis' companion in the morning before school. following him around meowing in his face and getting in front of the computer games and laying on his bookshelf. and knocking things over! Rebeka's love, sitting in her lap, purring and sleeping with her at night. for me…well all of the above, from bringing home a truly little fur ball that fit in the palm of my hand, going through multiple moves, from cars to plane transportation and 14yrs of memories…needless to say I have been hiding in my little cave waiting for her to come back even though I know she is with me in spirit, I am still looking over my shoulder when I go outside for her to slip out and listening for her meowing welcome when I come home. My friends are all animal lovers and are very understanding, allot have lost a pet in the past 6 months. the hugs and silent support is my saving grace to get back in to the world of living.

A Magical New Year

As the year 2010 comes to a close, I am cleaning up all things Christmas and putting the ornaments away. I have some new art journals I made and my calender near by with pen in hand...I have been spending a great deal of time reflecting on what has passed and thinking and planning for the new year, Okay...a little bit on overdrive…but I am wanting to share what I have been learning and to share the love of creating and Mother Earth. I read an article on numerology for this new year of 2011 and applying the tarot... we are starting the Emperor year. I feel he is about grounding all the things I have put into motion through the last year. So now I feel like the art opportunities and spiritual teaching creating ideas through the Healing Arts and Art of Self Discovery Life coaching that were started this year can really take root this year...a little scary and it is a very strange feeling, but I know we all have many exiting opportunities to make our dreams a reality in 2011…its going to be an amazing year I can feel it! So YAY for us!!!

Like many of you I try to make a few New Year resolutions, promises to myself, action steps to reach my goals...As you prepare your intentions for 2011, here are some of the questions I am asking myself to help realize what I have accomplished and what I can do to reach my goals. I have come up with some questions and added them to the the Art of Self Discovery Life coaching. (I think they are great ways to stay in touch with your goals anytime of the year.)

Here are 8 questions to ask yourself and journal about to help you gain clarity for next year...
1)What did I enjoy and love about this year?
2)What did I accomplish professionally and personally?
3)What challenges did I face?
4) How did I apply my Creativity to the world?
5)What did I not get to this year that I want to do in 2011?
6)What are my main priorities and areas of focus for 2011?
7)What 1-3 behaviours do I need to change and what 1-3 action steps to accomplish these?
8) How will I celebrate the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011 with inspiration, creativity and fun!?!

As I journal my questions and answers for my own personal yearly recap. I take out my calendar, and I list my blessings and wins for the past year and celebrate them. At the same time, I refuse to let my disappointments cloud my thinking. I then look forward to the New Year ahead and begin to set my intentions and vision.

Now we need to go create a quiet sacred space, (outside in nature is great) put on some music, light a candle and take time just for you to reflect on the joys of 2010 and the infinite possibilities awaiting you in 2011!!!!

So how is it in your neck of the woods? Me I am still not believing today is Dec 14th!!! only........11 days until Santa comes! How are you celebrating this Holiday? I just got all the cards ready to send out with family pictures and the weather today is very cold here in south Florida so I am home finishing up some Christmas presents with shells...I can't tell it's a surprise...but I do have some for sale at my Art Studio! With alot of people snowed in (been there) it's a great excuse to do some crafting and spend time with the family. Enjoying the snow and coming in for hot chocolate! hmmm....To keep the kids busy an idea is to have a crafting box filled with glue, glitter(love the glitter) paper and let them make cards for all their friends and start making some thank you cards for gifts they are recieving.
My gift getting is pretty much done. I have been stashing my presents all year and you know I love to give unique handmade items. So I have been in alot of the antiqueie stores around town and found some really cool things and my fellow art studio artists at the Village art studios has alot of home crafted things to choose from too. I need to make some more painted totem pet rocks and work on that today too. plus finishing up the canvas bags for our Thursday open house at the studio. My next project for the new year are some homemade and decorated journals. I will keep you posted.

Okay everybody it is December 1st!!! I guess it always catches me by surprise... and I realized it is only just over 4 WEEKS to Christmas!!! I need to get busy and finish up my crafts for gifts!

Decorating for Fall/Autumn Wreath

With Fall firmly here I tend to think of wreaths. It is a great way to use natural wild materials and I usually have alot of choices on my property. I noticed I have alot of grapevine on my property and it does tend to take over...so now and then I need to cut them back from my flowering trees. But so you know they do not go to waste. If you are looking for something to do with the kids this is a great way to get them outside and let them scout out for vines and decorations for the wreath...they always find the magical good stuff!

Crafting the wreath is easy. I start gathering the grapevine up and I will sometimes strip the leaves from the vines, sometimes not (I like the green leaves on them) then I bend and twist the vines into a circle. I add more as I go around and the wreath tells me how big it wants to be...(I have some really cute little ones too you can decorate, add a magnet and it is ready for the fridge!) I then secure the stems by tucking them in and around the other stems and then I can add decorations if I want...

I added some sunflowers and some ribbon to mine and used this wreath as part of my mother nature costumn for Halloween at Busch Wildlife Sancturary. And now it is hanging on my wall!

If you want to preserve its color, hang the wreath away from bright light and heat and enjoy!

41 days 'till Christmas! November 15th,2010

I know, I know many of you out there are thinking, “how can you even be thinking about Christmas?” I totally understand. I do! Really I do. I’m just finished painting my pumpkins and planning a couple of Halloween parties right now. Now it's time for the fall leaves for Thanksgiving. But here’s the thing: I also know, from "a few" years of experience, that planning ahead is really the key to enjoying December.

So to help get myself going, I am going to be posting some great gift making ideas and time saving ideas to get us all in the holiday spirit and hopefully less stressed out...ready, set, lets get creative!

Decorated Candles are a great to keep on hand for gift giving.Teachers, coworkers and friends would love these!
You can find candle jars almost anywhere now a days. I removed the outside label and hand painted these.
All I need to do is add a ribbon and my gift is all tyed up!
Think of things you can add (stickers and other embelloshments) to add your personal flair.

Moon Wisdom...Nov 6th New Moon In Scorpio

I love this time of year, the crispness in the air and the fall colors. I can still find them here in South Florida. I like to follow the seasonal cycle of autumn and take advantage of it to slow down, to retreat, and to rest.

A Scorpio new moon is on November 6th and like all new moons represents a new beginning in some part of our life. I am learning to take advantage of the moon energies to help me grow in my life rather than fighting them and trying to do it on my own. I like to learn about the sign, check where it is in my chart and see what I am given the opportunity to grow in. So I wonder what is the path for me from November 6th until the next new moon on December 5th?

My Scorpio is in the cusp of the 8th house...so I think my journey now is going to be more of an inner one and how I react to others around me. I am going to focus on all my relationships, feeling good about myself and then I will attract the best in all my relationships.

(With all the holiday events coming and family dramas..I do tend to hibernate this time of year...I am highly sensitive so this makes more since to me why I tend to retreat this time of year *the bear is one of my animal totems!!!)

That being said we can use this time for a deeper understanding especially in the area of relationships and it’s always good to remember that relationships are not just about our connection with that special someone. It's about all of our relationships: to our job, community, the earth, our creativity, and especially to oneself.

Where are the emotions, or fears that you don’t like to admit to holding you back?

So let's use this time to get in touch with our passions and to unleash our emotional storms into a creative and artistic as well as psychological and spiritual endeavors. There is zero degrees here, which means there’s a strong sense of new potentials that are ready to get started in our life's so let's see what is going to happen!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Friday...almost Halloween! Without a doubt this is one of my favorite months of the year. As long as I can remember I have LOVED Halloween. Spooky, creepy, and fun! I have a busy weekend this year and I am dressing up and I love seeing all the costumns of everone!!! I am so excited I have just finished my Mother Nature crown for tomorrow at *Busch Wildlife Sanctuary In Jupiter I will be there on Saturday from 12-4pm and **I am the Sea Goddess on Sunday from 12-4pm (and I have almost finished all my special painted magnets as the treats) for the Marine life center at Loggerhead Beach in Juno. I am painting a pumpkin for a raffle.

I turned all this into my Mother Nature Crown come and say hi!

***Tonight I will be reading Tarot for the Northwood Art and Wine Promenade, Friday, Oct 29: This is going to be a fun event! We will be setting up on Northwood Ave, on the sidewalk in a row, in between Spruce and Dixie. The event is from 6:00-10:00. Paper Plate Spider Treat Holder

I know, I know some people are afraid of spiders...do you shrink back when you see them??? I think Halloween is a perfect time to introduce the importance of spiders in our gardens and get the kids involved in making this cute little paper plate spider treat holder to hang on a doorknob to give someone a special treat. This is so easy to make and so fun to share with the kids. They can learn all about spiders and why they are good for our environment. There are billions of insects in the world and spiders help as a predator. Some of the spider webs are so intricate and they only last one night! There are allot of stories and myths on spiders to explore too.

What you'll need:
9" black paper plate
4 chenille stems *cut in half (8 legs remember)
Three 36"-long pieces of yarn
Tissue paper...I used purple
Google eyes
White acrylic paint
3" x 5" piece of orange construction paper
Things on hand...Black marker,White craft glue. Scissors

All you need to do is fold the black paper plate in half and cut along the crease. Pipe glue along the rounded edges of the two pieces of plate and cut chenille stems in half. (spiders have....8 legs!) Set aside two of the chenille stems. Bend the ends of the remaining chenille stems, about 1" at each end. Bend one to the left and the other to the right. For the remaining two chenille stems, bend one end about 1" and the other end about 2". Hold the plates together and allow to dry. You can use clothes pins to help hold it in place. ( I have also stapled the sides together depending on the kids patience for the glue to dry) Do not glue the top cut sides; this is the opening of the plate pocket.
You can get creative and paint the eyes on the paper plate or glue on the Googlies eyes, like I did...(I had some in my craft basket)...then glue eyes on the body. Your spider needs a friendly smile, so paint a cute little wiggly smile on the front of the plate using the white paint.
Using the black marker on the orange construction paper write "Happy Halloween!", "Trick or Treat"...or my favorite..."Want a bite?". Glue or tape the paper underneath the spider’s "hands" so that it appears that it is holding the sign.
Now to be able to hang your creation you need to line all three pieces of yarn up together and tie one end in a knot. Braid the strands together and knot at the other end. Open the pocket and punch a hole in the sides to pull the the braid through to work as a handle.

Fold the tissue paper and put it in the pocket and fill with candy or you can also fill it with pencils, erasers, temporary tattoos, and fun plastic spider rings and hang on some one's door for a special treat!

So many great ideas to get the word out for Breast Cancer Awareness this month. I have many friends that have been diagnosed and I have sat with many during treatments. I wish they would find a cure already!!! A friend of mine had a bra burning to raise money...and to add in I painted the heart and bird house. A Buzy Art-filled Summer

I have had a busy art-filled Summer. A very busy summer and now moving into the holiday season! This year has been amazing… Time in the studio has been more productive and so satisfying having a place to set up a permanent display. I have been very blessed to be able to sell my art work here and across the seas into other countries, so cool! With fall settling in here in south Florida I have been working on holiday gift decorations and gift giving crafts. When I think of migrating I think of the birds flying down to the south to escape the cold weather but there are other animals the migrate too...like my beautiful butterflies, that I love so much. Monarch butterflies overwinter in a several isolated mountain forests in central Mexico. Some accounts describe so many Monarchs that observers can actually hear the sound of their wings moving. Some of these insects travel thousands of miles each fall— all the way to the mountains of central Mexico. I find it to be an amazing adventure for such a fragile creature.

I remember when we lived in Dallas, Texas we were walking to school one fall morning and the lawns (I kid you not) were filled with groups of Monarch Butterflies....they were on all the lawns as we walked to school, so beautiful...The news that night said we were on their migratory path and please do not touch them. The butterflies were letting the morning dew dry from their wings before they could fly away. What an awesome sight!!!

So like the birds, Monarch butterflies are famous for their annual migrations.

Morning Sunrise

Well...Hello Oct 1st,2010...Stretch, yawn and I am up this the morning, started off with my son missing the bus at 6:30 in the morning...so off I go into town, not quite awake, but wow what a sunrise...I am not a morning person, so to be up and actually see the sunrise over towards the ocean makes me apprieciate the early wake up call and drive. Since I was already up and off today I grabbed a cup of coffee and headed for a good look at the sunrise over the ocean...and yes it is magical and beautiful...I walked down to the ocean and let my feet feel the touch of the water and the water felt delicious it was so warm and loving too..I stood there listening to the waves crash on shore and watching the the sea shell treasures wash up for me to take home and craft something wonderful...walking along...only a coiuple of people out...I feel quite at peace...the little mermaid song, under the sea,kept playing in my head!!!...I sat down in the cool sand and closed my eyes to listen to waves adn then I sat there watching the terns search for food and a lone pelican flying just past the waves. I brushed off the sand and continued my walk and I found lots of shells! Mounds of them... I never know what I will find, but today I find pieces of sand dollars..all sizes (my friend told me they represent money! Nice!!!) also what I call angel wings and some flat rocks to paint messages on or maybe turn into a totem animal or two...I loved starting my morning off this way and I thank you for sharing with me this morning. I hope this finds you all well and having a great day too.

Paper, Sissors, paste...I love crafting and I remember in High School we had to put together a series of collages of what we thought we were, who we wanted to be and were we thought we were going....pretty deep in those days...Wish I could find them. It would be interesting to see what my High school self would think of me now...and how much I have grown. Art and nature is still my passion and I still love it when I am flipping through a magazine and something catches my eye...I discovered soul collage (Seena Frost began the SoulCollage^®) book for more info) and I am now collageing for the moon phases through a class I am taking through Wise Woman University...and now I am hooked again.

(New Moon in Leo Collage)

Collageing is a great way to see what is happening in your life right now...or you can use it to set your intentions as in a vision board...(The Secret) Putting together a collage is easy for the young and old alike. There are so many images that can be recycled into our personal works of art. All it takes is sitting down with a bunch of old magazines and choosing images, textures and colors without thinking or judging. Anything that excites or intrigues you is then glued down any which way that pleases you!

To get started I sit down on my sofa and start to flip through old magazines, I keep my mind relaxed. I keep my breath deep and gentle as I look for anything that catches my eye. I don’t ask myself why I am drawn to images of the the pool, bandaids(?), the lion laying down... a sunflower in all the fall colors. All I know is that I love what I find.

As I lay out the paper and my fingers start to get get sticky with the glue, I get a little nervous... I start to lay down the backgrounds and then I breath and become one with the process and the collage begins to come together like pieces of a puzzle. Sunflowers bloom around a lion laying down. Inspiring words start to connect..

My collage unfolds like a spider web, everything connected but nothing I could not have planed for intentionally. I am a perfectionist (virgo moon) and as soon as I let go of the outcome the patterns and colors start to tell a story.

I find a warm red candle glowing in the middle, I look for small finishing details, animals, a yellow and green heart, (interesting) a red light house...(guiding light?) Finally it feels finished and I feel complete. (Full Moon in Pisces Collage)

(I am sharing these that I did as part of my class for the new and full moon phases for Aug and into Sept. )

I put the collage up on the coffee table and I look at it throughout the day...the week. I receive insights and ideas as I do other things. I communicate with my collages and with the goddess of my higher self.

I read them together....In the new moon collage...The lions body feels like strength and confidence. One is real and the other a drawn cartoon....there was a lot of emotional turmoil going on during the full moon and I did use the pool to release negatives for me... and as I look closer I suddenly have an answer to something I have been wondering about. One of the messages for me was..."I could act with new strength as easily as I could roar my truth and release my fears through the use of water and nature. Setting my intentions with lighting a candle and do the action steps to move forward....the Yellow Sunflowers seem to bloom and applaud. My life suddenly feels more alive and filled with possibilities. Yeah!!!!

So does this sound like something you would like to try? How can you get started?????? The next time you pick up a magazine or mailer, cards (I find ideas everywhere : ) ) try looking at it with soft, relaxed eyes. What do you notice? Is it a word, a color, a shape? Cut it out, glue it down and then add more images. What does it tell you about yourself? What we notice provides clues to who we really are or what we are working on in our lives right now. It does help us to focus on this moment.

I believe we are all creative and our souls long to find an outlet. We need the free time we had as a child to explore and just do it...remember finger paints and Play Doe??? ( I tend to use my kneading eraser to play with when I am drawing! : ) We need to reach deep into ourselves and find that little one again and invite them to come out and create. Collage is one way to start and find "it"....Starting with Intuitive Collage let's play and use the art of self discovery. Moon Folks! We have talked about the new Moon before that it is time of beginnings, when you can recharge goals, or set new ones. Its a moment to conjure what seems out of reach, and creating the vision is the first step to making it a reality. Making a vision board or collage is great too. But these are not just words and images on paper. As you write your intentions you should say them out loud (your words have a power all their own)... you are committing to doing your part to make them real. Some call it co-creating. You are opening up to the universal energies to set your dreams in motion. I like to call it practical spirituality because the awareness and energy are part and the other part is action!
So you can use this energy by looking up Virgo and see where it is in your natal chart and use that as a clue to what you are working on now. Virgos like organization, lists, schedules...for me I am setting times to exercise, and I just started the book the Artist Way and looking forward to the art exercises she recomends. (anyone else read this book????)
I think for me I need to plan my time and make the time for what is important to my spiritual and personal growth. Writing down in my calander will help me schedule better....wish me luck...(My natal moon is in Virgo) I would love to hear what you are doing...please leave a comment.

I practice gratitude today.
Despite the very hot temperatures, even in South Florida we are honoring the changing of the seasons. The daylight hours are obviously diminishing – and I did feel a nip in the morning air yesterday (I swear) Summer is waning. I am seeing some of the fall colors in my garden and with the full moon weeding and cleaning out the garden is always much easier in the cool or OKay somewhat cooler mornings. I do love this time of year. The kids are back in school and I always feel like getting all the fall decorations down with all the vivid jewel tones of the fall foliage. On a more spiritual note and honoring mother earth we have entered into the harvest season. Hopefully we have an abundance of wishes and dreams coming true and it is time to gather what we have sown over the past few months with the moon as guidance...sift through our plans and keep the good and remember to toss what we no longer need for our journey. We do not need to be afraid to ask for help with this one. Friends can help give us an unbiased opinion and the kick in the pants we need to get moving!! (thanks my friends!! You know who you are!!!)
I am writing in my gratitude journal and creating my rituals appropriate to this harvest season. I believe that with a daily practice of thanks we will awaken our true abundance.

August Full Moon

The Pisces Full Moon Ideal times for meditation and ceremony are tonight, as the waxing Moon crests to full, and tomorrow, as the energies are disseminating. Our prayers are carried on angels' wings.

So how have you been feeling with this full moon? I have been feeling a little over whelmed the last few weeks working with the new moon in Leo and now this full moon. Me I feel like I want to reach out and I have so much to share and learn with everyone.....feeling if I don't share I will burst....I have many ideas for classes and workshops and paintings, and and and....I felt liked I needed some guidance and to meditate on this full moon. soooo....

I went to a drumming that a friend of mine was holding and we did a shamanic journey were we retrieved our lower chakra animals to find out how they are working with us right now with this full moon...If you have never been on a shamanic drumming it is a great way to retrieve information. Many religious people used shamans to go into the other worlds and retrieve information for healing, where the next hunt would be successful and more. We had some new people and explained power animals and how to journey before the drumming started.

We get comfortable and the The drum begins to beat and your heart rate becomes one with the beat and then the journey begins.....

In my inner world I was sitting by a fire in a large circle of dark trees that glowed with my other power animal beside me and the animals came forward one by one and bowed to my power animal and took their place in the circle.

the animals that came forward for me I have had around me before but now they had a place with in the chakras and a way to communicate how to work with them for my growth. My animals to work with were for the base chakra- the red fox was running around my feet, sacral chakra - a raccoon that curled up and went to sleep in my lap and and in my solar plexus a gigantic turtle looking me face to face, eye to eye and then shrunk to normal size. When the drum beat brought us back to reality we all shared our stories and thoughts in the circle and realized what is going on in our lives...

It is great to share and get feed back from others that see things differently or in a way we don't or can't see. My turn came and for me I think the fox represents movement and energy to get moving, (stop going in circles) the raccoon...well since he was so comfortable to fall asleep and all, I probably need to get out of my comfort zone and stretch myself a little more...and the turtle for me represents mother earth and connecting to her and I do teach about her in my work at the wildlife sanctuary but also to remind others to connect to her in a personal spiritual way in day to day walk in life. ( I saw a box turtle walking in my yard and a gopher tort has taken up residence)

After I left and came home to write about this in my journal, I came up with some ideas for ways to share and have fun with the universal sourse of knowledge. I have been talking to some friends and today I have been working on a monthly creative spiritual workshop and will start in Sept. I am working on the details and I will post soon with how you can be involved.

I stepped outside today to hear the Cardinals singing…babies close by? And a humming bird buzzed by…It is raining and things are growing time to pull weeds and plant new flowers...
Ahhh, spring is in the air here in South Florida…

As you may know today is Imbolc, the festival of light and the celebration of the very first comings of spring. It may still be cold where you are but if you sit quietly and really pay close attention, you'll notice the subtle changes that indicate that yes, spring is coming. What signals to you that sping is coming your way?

The Imbolc is also the celebration of Brighid, the goddess of creativity, healing, smithcraft, and fire. I'll be lighting candles in honor of Brighid today to celebrate the coming of spring.

Happy Cinco de Mayo: My Guacamole Recipe

Living in Texas everyone celebrates Cinco de Mayo with lots of Tex/Mex fixings and even though we live in Florida now we still mark the day with yummy enchiladas and Margaritas….and it's always fun to anticipate the delicious, heart-healthy dip that is guacamole to start the meal off. My favorite recipe comes from a fabulous friend of mine. It's the perfect combination of lime-y tang and smooth avocado, fresh cilantro (my husband loves this herb) and warm chiles. And ooh, that little zing from tiny diced tomatoes. Mmmmm, guac.... I hope you Enjoy!
Guacamole
3 ripe avocados, about 6 oz. each
3/4 c. finely diced white onion
3/4 c. diced red plum tomatoes
2-3 T finely chopped serrano chiles (jalapeno or other chiles may be substituted)
1/2 c. coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
2 T freshly squeezed lime juice
2 t coarse salt, to taste
Directions: 1. Cut each avocado in half and remove the pit. Cut the halves in half and carefully peel off the black skin. 2. Cut the quarters into chunks and place in a medium bowl. Mash the avocado with a fork and stir in the onion, tomatoes, chiles, and cilantro. 3. Season the mixture with lime juice and salt. Keep covered with plastic wrap pressed against the surface of the guacamole until ready to serve. 4. Serve with your favorite chips…Happy 5/5, amigos…

Today as I finish my meditation time I am listening to the rain here in Florida and I reached for my angel cards by Doreen Virtue...My mind is clear and I call in my guardian angels and ask what is the message for me today...I shuffled and I pulled out Archangel Michael...His message is "I am with you, giving you the courage to make life changes that will help you work on your Divine life purpose." This is such a great card for me today because I have been working this morning on my coaching with Reiki and readings and writing for inspiring others in finding themselves and coming into abundance. I need to maitain my faith in that I am doing the right thing and by following my angels guidance I will do my heart and soul's work...so I am living in an abundant life.

Why didn't you save me?

A friend sent me the following story and I wanted to share with you ....sometimes we put so much faith in God doing everything for us we are forgetting that he will give us the means but we still have to get up in the morning and do some of the work.

He will put the people in the right place at the right time,

but we still have to leave the house or pick up the phone when it rings…

anyways enjoy the story....

A man has been notified that his house is going to be flooded and he needs to get out of the house. He says no I don't have to, God is going to take care of me. Then the flood starts to rise and a sheriff comes along and tells him to get out. The man says no, God is going to save me. So, the floods continue to rise, and he climbs on top of the house. A boat comes along and he's told to climb into the boat. He says, no, no , God is going to save me. Finally, a helicopter comes along and they lower the net to rescue him. The man says, no, no, God is going to save me!

Well, the man drowns and goes to heaven. When he gets to heaven he says to God, "why didn't you save me?"

God says, "I sent the sheriff, I sent a boat, I sent a helicopter, what more did you want me to do?"

God is not going to live our lives for us, but rather help us along the way!!!

A lesson in life

Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. If someone hurts you, betrays you , or breaks your heart, forgive them. For they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to.If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

I love numerology and I am learning more about it. I recieved this from Glinis Mcants and thought it was good timing to post for Valentines day coming up. I do use the numbers in tarot readings and of course astrology. Our birth numbers can tell us alot about ourselves and others in our lives.

February breaks down to the Number 2, and the 2 is the Number for love. No surprise that Valentine's Day falls in the Month of 2. Here is something else about Valentine's Day: The actual day breaks down to a 5 day (1+4 = 5), and the 5 is all about celebration. But, it can also be a Number of chaos and too much emotion. It is a well known fact that people can expect too much from that special day and end up depressed if things fall short.So I have to say to the men and women reading this, you can decide what kind of day it is going to be for you. If I were a man, and I were married, or dating someone, I would take her out to dinner (or make dinner for her), and be sure she gets flowers, or a lovely card telling her why you love her.For the women, I would go out of my way to do something to make my husband, or boyfriend, feel very special, and loved on that day. Use your imagination! This is a day to praise your partner and let him know that you love him. Some people take offense to Valentine's Day, because they say it is a purely a commercial holiday. Well, I think any time we find a reason to celebrate our love for one another is a good thing. So again, do something special. If you are single, get a group of friends and go out to dinner. Celebrate the love you have in your friendships. Look at this month as a way to acknowledge the love you feel for all the people in your life. And don't forget your children and co-workers. To start my new year off I purched a planner to keep one of my new year resolutions to be organized and to keep track of the comings and goings of work and appointments in my life but also to write in some me time...And in doing so I have scheduled times for being creative...writing, painting, exercising (more on that latter) and making time to be with friends. And I have time to just be. I love the above advise because planning my life is so challenging. I am a free spirit in kind. And I have trusted my intution on making decisions and following my passions. But I have been told my whole life I need to plan...plan...plan... but I know I need to be spontaneous too...if someone calls to go to lunch...what time? I will be there!! Want to go out of town...yeah...My Mom use to call me a Gypsy because I was always going, not sure where, but going nonetheless. I love being married and having children but I have had to learn to schedule life but somewhere along the way I forgot me in my own life....just going through the motions. That is where my book is coming in to help out with my goals...to keep me on track...with some leeway for spontaneity...

Do you ever find yourself rushing around and trying to fill up every waking moment with action? Or just going through the day in automatic mode...?

I have talked to so many people lately and there seems to be some unrest...no matter the age...feeling that there is more to life...there is not enough time in the day to do....what? not sure what but feeling - a calling...could they be searching into their life purpose or their life path to enlightenment?

I think so. When we feel unease in what we are doing it is time to reevaluate and maybe release things that are not in our well being. To start a plan on one of our passions and set some goals to start the process of understanding ourselves not what someone has told us to do or the media has led us to believe that we must have. If we have a goal set the rest will follow. We need to have The Knowing that all are following a grand plan and that will help us live in the moment of where we are right now...to know we are experiencing lessons that we need to grow and will lead us to our path. Or meeting people that we otherwise would never meet in another way.

I think we all know intuitively what is best for us...but do we listen?...do we trust our intuition when the times come to move on? I use too...but I think life gets in the way and for the past years I have been listening and getting back in touch through my intuition. Sometimes we have to choose to do what is right for us and to take care of our inner spiritual needs.

We need to be content in where we are right now...

take a breath...breath into the moment and listen to your heart...

Me and Aristotle the Barred Owl/ friends for 9 years, a very special bond when we met...passed away today from old age at 23 years old...I will miss her calling me her whoo whoo whoo whoooooooo ....when I come to work and the joy she brought to the kids when they saw us "talk"....may she fly in peace and visit in my dreams...

I feel very priviledged to have been able to work with Aristotle a wild animal that was hand raised by someone and then came to live at the wildlife Sanctuary. She was very special and had a great personality. She helped teach many people about our wildlife and was able to reach out through her own story to people to start nurtuing and caring for our environment and all the creatures that live here. Even though I am very very sad and feel my heart breaking and I will miss her presence...I know she will always live on in our hearts.

Winter craft fun: Snow Jar Globe

Are you having a cold day inside with nothing to do? You can teach your child about reduce/reuse/recycle by transforming a glass jar into a snowy decoration. I was looking through my Winter Craft Files and came across this snow craft that kids love to make (and me too). I remember making these when I was little and again in a day care I worked in. We had a lot of baby food jars and we were always trying to find ways to use them for crafts. I always try to teach about recycling in crafts and this is a fun one to do. I wanted to share with you a way to create your own glass menagerie with these easy-to-make snow jars.

1. Rinse a glass jar with warm, soapy water. Let dry. (I used a pickle jar)

2. On the inside of the lid, make a tiny snow-covered “mountain” with Sculpey, a modeling clay available at crafts stores. Then, affix a plastic animal or toy to the lid with a glue gun or epoxy.(I have tons of little what-nots from kids meals or nick nacks from old games)

3. Fill jar with water and 1 tsp glycerin/or mineral oil—it makes the “snow” fall more slowly.

4. Now for the sparkly fun... just add silver glitter.

5. Fasten the lid and wow!!!!—instant snow fall.

This is the only snow I will see in South Florida. My son did call me to go outside today in our 30 degree weather and look at the frost on the lawn!...He was excited to see it...there was a pretty frost on the leaves...

Stepping outside today I heard a loud chirping song...you know the one... just like in Disney's Pocahontas's where the hummingbird is fussing at her about something....I am so excited to see that I have hummingbirds flying around my fire bush sipping the nectar and disappearing into my secret garden...(I think there might be a nest over there...) They are one of my favorite birds...so looking them up in my animal totem book they represent tireless joy and the nectar of life...(animal speak, Ted Andrews) They have the ability to move its wings in the shape of the figure 8 pattern- a symbol for infinity and links to past and future...laws of cause and effects. I have been trying to learn more about herbal healing and have used colors and scents and this is something the hummingbird can teach. Hopefully I can draw on this and learn to create for healing...the hummingbird is a symbol for accomplishing that which seems impossible. It will teach you how to find the miracle of joyful living from your own life circumstances... Thinking on this little fast flyer darting in and out around me I do appreciate and give gratitude for all I have and will have this new year of 2009 and I go with grace and ease.

I wanted to share it with you and hope it inspires you for your new year.....

As the sun is setting on 2008, and 2009 waits for us on the horizon, the world reflects and anticipates. This annual turning is a natural time to contemplate our personal harvests and the events of the past year. It is a powerful time to make resolutions and set intention for the coming year. It is a time of rejuvenation that extends through cultures globally, and is deeply rooted in the traditions of our ancestors, whose New Year's rituals release and honor the old in order to clear ample space for the new to blossom and flourish.
For Prosperity:
the first time you enter your home after midnight on the New Year, throw coins into your house or apartment.
Step in with your right foot and bless each coin with the resources that you want to bring in for the year....don't forget health and joy! Keep the money for 24 hours and then give it away to charity.
*It is said that if you wear new red underwear on January 1st you will bring in love for the year. *Some cultures eat 12 grapes and other lentils to set intention for prosperity and health. (in the south we eat black eyed peas)
My first spiritual teacher Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov told me that that the first 12 days of the year represent the whole year. January 1st stands for the month of January, January 2nd stands for February and so on. By practicing loving kindness, openness, and generosity while giving thoughtful attention to the significance of each day, you will consecrate the coming year.( I plan on making a collage of thoughts and wishes everyday while thinking what I want to bring into each month for the coming new year)

Let this year be a living ritual to peace and understanding. Concentrate on building relationships of mutual trust and understanding...starting with yourself. The key is having compassion for yourself and others . Take a deep breath and breathe life into 2009.
Success comes when we listen to our hearts, stay authentic and trust ourselves to handle the challenges of the unknown.
